Yes, we are still here!

I guess I am not a very good blogger--it has been 7 months since my last post! Well, we are enjoying the new kitchen. Heaven only knows when we will be able to fix anything else up in the house, but we will take it in baby steps as the money comes available. Our next critical project is part of the roof, which will be all sorts of fun. I have been concentrating on flower beds to brighten up the outside, and we need to start working at getting the house painted. Scraping off old paint will be a good summer job for the kids! I can't believe that school is almost done for the year. Where did the time go? I have a feeling that the summer will fly right by also.

I have a new kitchen!!!! I am almost afraid to use anything and get it dirty. My cupboards aren't even full (yet, of course--I haven't tackled the pantry). It will take everyone a while to remember where things are, and to stop going to the "old" kitchen area to find things. I am doing my happy dance! :)

My kitchen is taking shape! Here are my new cabinets and the floor is going in. I also painted the dining room green. Hopefully the countertops will be coming in soon, and then Jeff will be busy doing plumbing. It's getting closer all the time!!

It may not look like much now, but this is the beginning of my new kitchen and pantry! The cabinets have been ordered and we are on our way finally. This was supposed to be done before we even moved in last year, but better late than never!

A New Beginning

Hi everyone! Here are a couple pictures of the "new" house. They are both shot from the side. Basically, the back addition (to the left in the bottom photo) is not livable space , and may be that way for a few years yet I am afraid! The upper part of it is mainly storage. The lower section still has a dirt floor and the original inside two-seater "outhouse" (non-functional of course--though I am thinking it may make a great sauna when we renovate!) The main house has a two-story porch with a balcony off our bedroom. Our first priority before winter is to get new windows installed. Hopefully next summer we can get it either painted or sided. I think we have our work cut out for us for awhile. In the front of the bottom photo is part of our driveway--it goes all the way around the house--and the main road is in front of the house (to the right of the photo). I may add some interior shots as we get more settled--right now it is pretty messy! We are still working on painting and wallpapering, and tearing out some walls. It is definitely a work in progress.
